Ukrainian Championship. Dynamo 5-0 Kolos.

Ukrainian Championship. Dynamo 5-0 Kolos.

As part of the 27th round of the Ukrainian Football Championship, FC Dynamo Kyiv hosted Kolos from Kovalivka at the Valeriy Lobanovskyi Club Stadium.

Given that the first-round match ended in a draw, an easy match was not expected for the White-and-Blues this time either. Kovalivka’s team were able to impose viscous football with a minimum of scoring opportunities on Oleksandr Shovkovskyi’s wards. The visitors had nothing special to remember in the first half, while Dynamo mostly threatened the opponents’ goal from set pieces. In particular, Brazhko scored above the goal from the free kick, and Popov, closing the canopy from the corner, did not hit the frame with a header.

Probably, Dynamo had the best chance before the break in the 29th minute. After another corner kick, the ball fussed in the visitors’ penalty area, Yarmolenko tried to push the ball into the goal from close range, but Kovalivka’s team jointly eliminated the threat, knocking it out for a corner.

Dynamo created another chance near the goal of “Kolos” in the 36th minute. Shaparenko caught the defender on a mistake in the penalty area of Kovalivka’s team, intercepted it, the ball bounced to Yarmolenko, and from Andriy’s leg it ended up in the hands of the goalkeeper.

In the dying seconds of the first half, the White-and-Blues had another great opportunity to open the scoring. Vivcharenko threw the ball into the penalty area to Yarmolenko, Andriy received and shot to the goal line to Voloshyn, Nazar passed even further to Karavaev, but Oleksandr’s shot was blocked.

If in the first half Dynamo did not succeed much, then the beginning of the second 45 minutes turned out to be super shocking. In the 48th minute, the White-and-Blues finally opened the scoring. Shaparenko made a free kick into the visitors’ possession, and the defender of “Kolos” Bondarenko unsuccessfully put his knee, from which the ball flew into the goal – 1-0.

In just a few minutes, the score was doubled. Brazhko found Yarmolenko on the outskirts of the penalty area with a great split pass, Andriy made a pass, turned around and fired it into the corner with his “non-working” right foot to make it 2-0.

And the White-and-Blues’ next attack was effective. Shaparenko broke into the penalty area from the left flank, passed it to the centre, and Buyalskyi fired it past the goalkeeper from close range to make it 3-0.

That’s how Dynamo secured a more than comfortable advantage in five minutes. The White-and-Blues continued to attack and increased their already solid advantage midway through the first half. On 68 minutes, Dynamo took advantage of the opponents’ free zone on the left flank of defence, with Voloshin passing it to Shaparenko in the centre, with Mykola continuing to Kabayev, with Vladyslav firing a one-touch shot past the goalkeeper to make it 4-0.

And the fifth ball flew into the net in the 71st minute. After Karavayev’s pass from the right flank, Buyalskyi passed the ball to Voloshyn, who, finding himself in the centre of the penalty area, received and sent the ball into the back of the net without hindrance to make it 5-0.

After all questions about the winner were removed, the White-Blues’ coaching staff made a number of substitutions. Of those who appeared on the field from the bench, Diallo could have excelled, but after Samba’s shot from outside the penalty area, the goalkeeper covered the ball in the corner.

But until the final whistle, the score did not change. As a result, Dynamo claimed a convincing victory and continued to hope for Shakhtar’s misfire.
