After 16 years of waiting, prayers, and perseverance, Chepchirchir Hodiah is finally witnessing a lifelong dream come to life.
In an emotional social media post, Chepchirchir noted that growing up, she promised her mum she would one day buy her land and build her a retirement home.
She shared a heartwarming video of the incredible milestone, reflecting on the difficult journey it took to get there.
The phrase “we left home to change home” underscored her deep motivation and commitment to giving back to the woman who raised her.
She disclosed that life had tested her so much over the years to the extent of nearly giving up on the dream, but it was becoming a reality.
“God is in the business of impressing our minds!” she wrote, capturing the overwhelming joy and gratitude she felt.
According to her post, the dream is not just about putting up a structure, but creating a sanctuary where her mother can enjoy the fruits of her labour in peace.
She said that since the land is around Kericho, she plans to pursue farming as they hope to expand the land in future.
Chepchirchir described the moment as emotional and joyful, with her mother overjoyed and tearful as the dream finally began to unfold.
Though the excitement is palpable, Chepchirchir admitted she is a little nervous about beginning the construction process, which she hopes to start in May.

Chepchirchir saved by kindhearted Kenyans
On the journey back to Nairobi after viewing the parcel of land, Chepchirchir found herself stranded in Suswa with a burst tyre.
In her attempt to replace the wheel, she was dismayed to discover she could not locate her spanner, prompting her to make a distress post on Facebook.
Terrified and in the middle of nowhere, she frantically tried to stop other motorists, including a group of cyclists, but each sped away, leaving her hopeless.
A few minutes later, the same bikers who had passed her earlier returned and identified themselves as Team Tembea Kenya. They promised to stay with her until she was sorted.
