Delta State has been thrown into mourning following the gruesome killing of the Special Adviser to the State governor on Trade and Export, Chief Mrs. Shimite Bello, at the early hours of Easter day.
The news revealed that she was allegedly poisoned by her husband, Pastor David Favour Love during a minor quarrel.
Sources said she was immediately rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, Asaba, where she was confirmed dead after efforts of medical personnel to save her failed.
According to one of the family members who spoke on the conditions of anonymity, late Shimite was in good health when I spoke with her a day before she died.
“I spoke with her for over an hour on Saturday. Nothing was wrong with her. I sent her Easter messages on Sunday, but she didn’t reply, which was unusual.”
The family source further revealed that Shimite’s maid called her elder brother, informing him that the husband had locked Shimite in the house since morning.
Following this information, her brother rushed in and found her already foaming from her mouth, then, rushed her to the hospital, but she was confirmed dead by doctors on duty”, the sources said.
A friend of the deceased, Maxwell Ajufo, described her death as heartbreaking.
Ajufo, said “what a way to start Easter on Monday. I can only hope—desperately—that what I just heard isn’t true. I’m cold. Very cold. This pain is deep.
“I just received the news that my dear friend, Shimite Bello, is gone. Gone? No, it can’t be. How can it be true? The sun was still at noon in her life. She had so much ahead—so much to give, to share, to become. This is too heavy to carry.
