AC Milan advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic has slammed the door on any chances of Divock Origi playing for the club again, insisting the has no future with the Rossoneri.
Origi returned from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest but has not joined the rest of the squad in pre-season, having been banished to the youth team after falling out of favour over a year ago.
“Divock Origi and Fode Ballo-Toure are not part of our plans. They will be part of the youth team as they’re not included in our project,”Ibrahimovic told the media in Milan.
It leaves Origi at crossroads again as he will have to quickly find a new club or risk disappearing into the wilderness at Milan.
The 29-year-old joined Milan as a free agent in the summer of 2022 and was handed a four-year contract worth €4 million per season but things went south very quickly.
Origi failed to impress at San Siro, scoring just two goals in 36 matches across all competitions, and Milan lost patience immediately.
Former coach Stefano Pioli made him surplus to requirements and the club put him on the market after just one year in Italy. Buyers were, however, not forthcoming and the club and the player had to contend with a loan spell at Forest.
The ex-Liverpool striker, however, endured another disappointing season, scoring just one goal in 22 matches for the Premier League side, and there were no surprises when he was released.
With two years still remaining on his Milan contract, Milan have a decision to make as they can opt to terminate the deal and let him leave as a free agent, or look for other clubs interested in the player either on loan or permanently.
