Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has set a new record for the most UEFA Champions League matches won in his first 50 games in the competition.
Tuchel achieved the feat on Wednesday night after guiding Chelsea to beat Lille 2-1 in the Champions League round of 16 second-leg tie.
Two goals from Christian Pulisic and Cesar Azpilicueta ensured Tuchel’s men defeated Lille in France and qualified for the Champions League quarter-final.
According to OptaJoe, the result means Tuchel has won 32 of his 50 Champions League matches as a manager, equalling former Bayern Munich manager, Jupp Heynckes (32 wins from 47 matches in total) as the coach with the most victories inside his first 50 matches in the competition.
It also means that the former Paris Saint-Germain coach is now ahead of the likes of Zinedine Zidane and Pep Guardiola.
Below are the top five managers with the most matches won in their first 50 games in the Champions League:
Thomas Tuchel – 32 wins
Zinedine Zidane – 31 wins
Pep Guardiola – 30 wins
Vicente Del Bosque – 29 wins
