Stay Calm to be in Control

“Mistakes and pressure are inevitable; the secret to getting past them is to stay calm,” so alluded Travis Bradberry. To Mehmet Ildan, “By staying calm, you increase your resistance against any kind of storms.” Today, let’s reflect on staying calm to regain control of any situation.
Do you know that you enhance your ability to take control of any situation based on your ability to stay calm in a challenging situation? Despite your effort, wishes and prayers, the reality is that the unexpected does happen – disappointments do occur, misfortunes do take place etc – and those impacted may include you. Faced with undesired situations, you can either adopt the victim’s mindset and feel bitter or consider yourself empowered to do something to make the situation better. A typical instrument you can use to be in control is remaining calm. As Hermann Hesse noted, “Within you, there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself.” That might have been why Terri Guillemets declared, “Give your stress wings and let it fly away” because, as James Pierce observed, “Your life will be in order when disorder ceases to bother you.” According to an anonymous source, “To be calm is the highest achievement of the self” because, as Seneca noted, “No state is so bitter that a calm mind cannot find in it some consolation.” When you calm down in the midst of a storm, you reduce your stress level, listen better, improve clarity of the situation and enhance your personal efficiency. Additionally, you enhance productivity, build confidence and increase trust among those in your circle.
So, enhance your capacity to remain calm during challenging situations and unexpected upsets. Know, as Tao Porchon-Lynch obserbed, that “Breath is the power behind all things…. I breathe in and know that good things will happen.” As Osho advised, “Don’t try to force anything. Let life be a deep let-go. God opens millions of flowers everyday without forcing their buds.” When tempted to be tense in the midst of the unexpected, remind yourself of Canelo Alvarez’s words: “I have to stay calm, cool and collected.” Are you faced with a situation that is agitating your heart? Eckhart Tolle suggested, “Unwind, relax and deepen into the present moment.” Are people around instigating negative reaction? Kimberly Jones cautioned, “Don’t let people pull you into their storm. Pull them into your peace.” Always remember Dalai Lama’s thought: “Calm mind brings inner strength and self-confidence, so that’s very important for good health.”
As you step out today, bear in mind Naval Ravikant’s note: “A fit body, a calm mind, a house full of love. These things cannot be bought – they must be earned.” In any situation you find yourself, try to calm down to regain control and be in charge. Remember, as Roy Bennett said, “Patience is not the ability to wait. Patience is to be calm no matter what happens, constantly take action to turn it to positive growth opportunities, and have faith to believe that it will all work out in the end while you are waiting.”
