After a hugely successful Season 2, with Collider’s Mike Thomas giving the season an 8/10 and calling it “incredibly fun” in his review, Solo Levelinghas been in somewhat of a difficult position, with fans desperate for answers relating to the show’s future.
With hints about a potential third season dropping constantly, no official confirmation has left many dissatisfied, especially considering just how successful the previous outing was on Crunchyroll.
Now, thanks to a special Reddit Ask Me Anything with Aniplex producer Sota Furuhashi and A-1 Pictures producer Atsushi Kaneko, it seems that the pair believe fans can play a pivotal role in the renewal of the series.
Speaking via the AMA, the pair encouraged fans to bring their “energy” if they hope for a third season to be greenlit. “Do you know Dragon Ball’s Genki-dama (Spirit Bomb)? We need your energy! If we’re going to make a Season 3, it’s going to take all the support and energy from the fans,” the pair wrote, later adding, “If you want a Season 3, it’s the energy from all of you across these subreddits and fan communities that will help make it happen.”
Why is a third season taking so long? Well, for those fans not in the know, Furuhashi and Kaneko also answered this in their AMA. The pair said, “Each episode takes about 10 months to complete, with some of the longer ones taking up to 12 months,” a surprising fact to some that feels inevitable once indulging in the heavily detailed high-quality of every single episode in the series so far.
Although a release date is not yet confirmed, fans can feel hopeful that something will arrive sooner rather than later, with the journey of Sung Jinwoo from the weakest weapon humanity has to offer to someone with the power to “level up” on his own, requiring continuation.
