Sadio Mane is a doubt for the World Cup after limping off while playing for Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.
Just 13 days before Senegal begin their campaign in Qatar, Mane limped off 20 minutes into Bayern’s Bundesliga clash at home to Werder Bremen.
The former Liverpool star sat down on the turf with an apparent problem and was subsequently replaced by Leroy Sane. It’s not clear what the nature of the problem is.
This will be hugely worrying for Senegal with Mane a key player for them.
He booked their place in Qatar by firing in the decisive penalty in their victory over Egypt in the World Cup play-offs.
Senegal begin their campaign against the Netherlands on November 21. They also face Ecuador and host nation Qatar in Group A.
It’s been a marvelous 2022 for Mane, who fired Senegal to glory in the Africa Cup of Nations, as well as helping Liverpool to the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
The 30-year-old, who joined Bayern in the summer, came second to Real Madrid and France striker Karim Benzema in the 2022 Ballon d’Or rankings.
However, there are now huge concerns he won’t be able to round off the year on the biggest stage of them all.
