Paris Saint-Germain manager, Mauricio Pochettino has fallen out with the club’s hierarchy over transfers, including over the high-profile summer arrival of Lionel Messi from Barcelona this summer, the UK Mirror reports.
Pochettino remains the favourite to land the Manchester United job, with the Old Trafford hierarchy confident of landing their man. Despite being 16 points clear at the top of Ligue 1, all is not well in the French capital and PSG’s ultras voiced their unhappiness with performances in Friday night’s match.
Pochettino is said to be at odds with senior officials at the club, most notably sporting director Leonardo. The former Tottenham boss was unhappy when the club did not comply with his demands in the summer transfer market. He had instructed the club to slim down his bloated playing squad at the end of last season but instead, PSG sold one player, Mitchel Bakker.
The signings of Messi, Sergio Ramos and Gianluigi Donnarumma are all said to have been against Pochettino’s wishes. Other players like Georginio Wijnaldum, Nuno Mendes and Achraf Hakimi also arrived in a busy summer. Pochettino is said to feel undermined by the club and the working relationship is broken and he is now considering leaving at the end of the campaign for United.
