Nigerians defend Labour Party’s deputy governship candidate for Lagos as Kemi Olunloyo digs out her ugly past.

Mixed reactions have trailed investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo’s damning post about Labour Party Lagos deputy governorship candidate, Princess Islamiyat Oyefusi.

Kemi had taken to social media to share an alleged throwback photo of the politician smoking as she questioned her competency for the position she’s running for.

“Deputy Governorship candidate in Lagos State”, she captioned the photo.

The post, however, elicited varying reactions from Nigerians on social media. While some berated her, others opined that her social life or past has nothing to do with her competency.

Reacting an Instagram user @teeboss03 wrote, “Not a fan of LP but even Obama smoked Marijuana in his past life. Someone’s social behavior has nothing to do with their governance skills”.

Another user, @packagedjteejuiz wrote,

“Suddenly, there’s nothing wrong with smoking of shisha with this kind of dress in that kind of environment, as an aspiring leader, you people don’t have problems with this now, as this doesn’t have have anything with ruling, The reason why a lot of people have been condemned in the past for related things is because once you’re leading you’ll become a role model, mentor to a lot of people,…

Whatever a deputy did or doing will become normal and that will affect our moral cultures and all, it won’t just be her life anymore, but there’s no problem with this, because she’s under labour party and anyone under that party are ordained by God!… But Tinubu was dragged for smoking cigarettes in a plane which is more private than this because he’s an old man and we don’t want him!… Appt!!!”

Meanwhile, Oyefusi, via her Twitter handle, has denied being the person in the photo.

“Obident don’t do propaganda, we talk to real issues that affects the people. It will not win you election. This is not me, so I will never stoop low to your gutters or dignify you with a reply. ori Ade ko kin Jagun bi eru. Meaning the crown never fights like slaves.” She wrote.
