Popular Nigerian chess master and founder of Chess in Slums Africa, Tunde Onakoya is set to break the Guinness World Record for the longest Chess Marathon.
Tunde had announced his interest in participating in the activity via his page on the microblogging platform X.
Where he stated that he would be playing on the 17th of April at the heart of Times Square, New York City for 58 hours without losing a game.
Tunde also mentioned that he is doing this on behalf of children across Africa with no access to education.
Sharing a picture of him playing the chess game, he wrote in his caption;
“On the 17th of April 2024, I will attempt to break the Guinness World record for the longest Chess marathon in the heart of Times Square New York City for 58 hours without losing a game. Doing this for the dreams of millions of children across Africa without access to education. You guys have been rock solid for me through the years, so I need all of us to come together now more than ever to show the world that the Nigerian spirit is unwavering and we can do great things from a small place against all odds.”
Tunde also asked his followers and Nigerians living in New York to come to the venue of the event to cheer him on.
Individuals online have wished the chess master a success in his attempt to break the Guinness World Record.
