Niger Delta varsity to host African medical students

Niger Delta University is set to host no fewer than 25 African countries at the 2017 General Assembly (GA) of the Federation of African Medical Students Association (FAMSA).
The local organising committee (LOC) chairman, Bright Omumajuru, disclosed this at a press briefing on campus.

According to Omumajuru, the university community is excited to be the first state university and the second Nigerian university to host the assembly in the last 30 years after the University of Ibadan (UI).

“Our excitement knew no bound when the news of our hosting right got to us on campus. Ever since we have been putting things in place for a successful hosting. Through FAMSA GA, we would showcase the rich cultural heritage of Bayelsa to other African Medical students,” he said.

Tagged ‘Medical Practice In The 21st Century: An Appraisal And Policies Regarding The Place Of Africa,’ the programme would run from March 15 to March 19. The event will feature public lecture, tour, football competition, cultural carnival, dinner and others. Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is expected as a special guest of honour.
