Barcelona captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen has had his say after Monday’s disappointing 3-0 defeat to Monaco in the Gamper Trophy.
Hansi Flick’s side had enjoyed a bright pre-season but were comfortably beaten by Ligue 1 opposition in their final friendly before the start of the new campaign.
Ter Stegen said it’s a “good warning” for his side as they prepare to kick off another La Liga campaign.
“Let’s hope it’s an accident. At some point we were not successful and today’s game against a team that is ready to compete and has a very good team required something else,” he told reporters.
“Details decide games and it’s no different in a friendly than in a league or Champions League match. It’s a good warning and let’s hope that in a few days we’ll be better.”
The defeat is certainly a big wake-up call ahead of the weekend’s trip to Valencia for Flick’s first competitive game in charge of the Catalan giants.
