Jose Mourinho grabs rival manager’s face in angry bust-up

Former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is back in the headlines once again for his antics in Turkey after being involved in an altercation with Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk.

The two rivals met in the Turkish Cup quarter-final on Wednesday night with Galatasaray earning the bragging rights. Victor Osimhen scored twice in the first half before Sebastian Szymanski’s goal was only a consolation.

As the game reached its conclusion, a mass brawl erupted close to the dug-out, which saw three players sent off. Kerem Demirbay and Baris Alper Yilmaz were shown red cards for the visitors, while Mert Hakan Yandas followed them for Fenerbahce – all three players weren’t on the pitch.

Then, Mourinho was involved in an incident with his opposite number. The alteration was caught on camera, showing Mourinho pinching Buruk’s nose before being moved away from the scene.

Buruk fell to the floor dramatically after the altercation with Mourinho before Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera appeared onto the scene to calm things down.

It comes after tensions became too much in the February league fixture between the two sides. Mourinho, known for his touchline antics, received a four-match ban, which was later halved, after making ‘derogatory and offensive statements towards the Turkish referee’.

The Portuguese also accused Turkish football of chaos and disorder with insulting and offensive statements towards both the Turkish football community and all Turkish referees.

Exiting the domestic cup means Mourinho’s Fenerbahce’s hopes of success this season lay in the league. However, they are currently six points behind Galatasaray with a game in hand.
