“I Was Rejected by Over 10 Flight Schools.” — Nigerian World’s 1st Quadruple Amputee Pilot and Flight Instructor

“I Was Rejected by Over 10 Flight Schools.” — Nigerian World’s 1st Quadruple Amputee Pilot and Flight Instructor

My name is Zachary. Iwas born in Nigeria and raised in Wisconsin, USA after being adopted by an American couple. Growing up, I was always fascinated with planes and dreamed of becoming a pilot.

Many people discouraged my dreams due to my condition. But I never wavered in my determination, and all I was looking for was a chance to prove myself.

I believe you can break any barrier you want to, but you have to have faith and determination to do so.

I applied to more than 10 flight schools. They all rejected me, except one – the Spartan College of Aeronautics in Oklahoma, USA, where I went ahead to become a pilot.

There were many challenges and hurdles to cross, including the FAA’s SODA test which I passed. And in 2019, I became the first world’s first commercial quadruple amputee pilot

People discouraged me and told me that I couldn’t become a pilot. But I have been a commercial pilot for five years and have now taught over 200 students how to fly.

What’s stopping you from achieving your own dreams? What’s your excuse?
