EFCC, NYSC sign agreement to fight corruption using corps members

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Monday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This formalizes the existing partnership between the agencies for the fight against corruption and economic crimes in Nigeria.

NYSC Director-General, Maj.-Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim met EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

Bawa said the document would serve as a guide on what the agencies would be doing from time to time.

“NYSC has been part of us from the beginning. We have always had the opportunity of welcoming corps members to help us where we have gaps in our staff,” he added.

He also said that though the sensitivity of EFCC tasks required trained officers, corps members contribute to its successes.

Bawa, however, hinted that the One Million Man March suspended due to COVID-19 would be re-planned.

On his part, Shuaibu noted the NYSC/EFCC Community Development Service (CDS) has been sensitizing for the EFCC and the fight against corruption.

“Corps members are ever willing as they continue to put in their best in that regard”, he added.

He charged the EFCC to apprehend fraudsters extorting Nigerians through the social media to influence their posting, redeployment or relocation.
