Brazilian football legend Marta has announced her engagement to Orlando Pride team-mate Carrie Lawrence. The 6-time FIFA player of the year Marta is set to wed her teammate at Orlando Pride.
The proposal, which took place during a serene picnic, was a huge moment for the couple who have been together since 2022.
Marta, widely considered the greatest female footballer of all time having won the FIFA Women’s player of the year – a record six times, shared the news through a series of intimate photographs on Instagram.
The images, capturing the couple’s happiness, were accompanied by a heartfelt caption from Lawrence that read, “My forever.”
The proposal was a significant personal milestone for Marta, who had previously been engaged to another Orlando Pride player, Toni Pressley.
Despite their breakup, Marta’s relationship with Lawrence has been a source of joy and stability.
Lawrence, a 27-year-old midfielder, joined the Orlando Pride in 2020, three years after Marta began her tenure with the team.
