Chelsea Manager, Thomas Tuchel has joined the squad ahead of their FIFA Club World Final against Palmeiras on Sunday.
Tuchel, 47, missed his side’s 1-0 win over Saudi club Al Hilal on Wednesday after testing positive to Covid-19 days earlier.
The European champions went into the encounter deprived of the charismatic presence of their German Manager. But, a Romelu Lukaku’s first-half goal proved decisive as Chelsea moved closer to completing a historic trophy haul.
His assistant, Zolst Low speaking to the media earlier, via Football.London said:
“We still hope he can come and enjoy the group as soon as possible.
“We hope he can come. We have 30 hours to the game. He follows the rules and protocols. Still a lot of time.
“We hope he can come but if not we are well prepared, we have a lot of meetings. We talk about the game, we analyze the game and see what we can do better. We’re absolutely clear what to do better in the second game.”
Recall that Edouard Mendy had joined the team after his AFCON success with Senegal and is said to be available for selection.
Chelsea will be looking to clinch the title for the first time as it remains the only trophy yet in their cabinet.
The Blues lost 2-1 to Brazilian team Corinthians in a previous edition in 2012.
