Arsene Wenger Lands Coaching Job 3 Years After Arsenal Exit

Former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has made a sensational return to management three years after leaving his role as Gunners manager.

The Frenchman who is currently serving as FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, is expected to be at the dugout in the 2022 Riyadh Season Cup, coaching a combined team consisting of players from two of the Kingdom’s biggest clubs.

The Riyadh Season event which will spread across 14 different zones in the Saudi Arabian capital would begin this month, with global entertainment festivals running until March 2022.

One of those will be the Riyadh Season Cup, where a team of Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr players will take on Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain with the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar on parade.

The 71-year-old will take charge of the home team as Saudi Arabia welcomes PSG for the first time in the third week of 2022.

On Sunday, Saudi Royal Court Advisor Turki Alsheikh confirmed Wenger’s role on Twitter.

He tweeted: “The great international coach Arsene Wenger was signed to lead the stars of Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr against Paris Saint-Germain in the cup.”

Widely viewed as the most successful coach in Arsenal’s history, Wenger spent over two decades at the north London outfit, winning three English Premier League titles and seven FA Cups, leading Arsenal to an unbeaten league season in 2003/04 during his time at the club.
