Alvaro Morata Spain Captain Suffers Injury Scare After Security Guard Slides Into Him During Celebration

Spain’s captain will be assessed for a potential injury on Wednesday, after a security guard slipped into him during the celebrations for the Euro 2024 semi-final win over France.

Alvaro Morata was seen wincing in pain and clutching his right leg following the incident, which stemmed from yet another pitch invader in Germany trying to take selfies.

Alvaro Morata was left in pain after a security guard slid into his leg during Spain’s Euro 2024 semi-final celebrations.
La Roja emerged 2-1 winners over France on Tuesday evening, coming from a goal down in Munich to break the European Championship record for the most wins in a single edition (six).
Randal Kolo Muani put Les Bleus ahead early on, before teenage sensation Lamine Yamal – who went on to be named player of the match – produced a stunning curler to equalise.
Dani Olmo’s silky touch set up his winner, via a deflection, with Spain holding that lead for the remaining 65 minutes.
It saw Spain into a fifth Euros final, with a chance at lifting the trophy for a fourth time after past glories in 1964, 2008 and 2012.
Their celebrations were slightly marred, however, after pitch invaders yet again caused chaos.
A number of matches at this summer’s tournament in Germany have been halted by fans evading pitchside security.
This time, one spectator was embroiled in the post-match festivities and tried to take selfies with the victorious players.
When he was standing close to Morata, several security guards rushed in to take him down, one of which accidentally slipped into the right leg of the forward.

The Atletico Madrid man immediately received an apology, as he hopped on one leg while wincing, and clutched what appeared to be his knee in discomfort.
In positive news for La Roja, though, manager Luis de la Fuente does not see it affecting the 31-year-old’s participation in Sunday’s final.
De la Fuente told his post-match press conference: “With Alvaro, we are going to wait until tomorrow. We don’t think it was anything. It was during the celebrations. We think he’s going to be okay.”
Morata has played in every game at this summer’s tournament, though is yet to complete any of them. Against France, he was taken off with 14 minutes left.
The former Chelsea striker has struck once – in Spain’s opener against Croatia – after previously hitting three at the 2022 World Cup and three at the delayed Euro 2020.
If Morata can recover in time as expected, he’ll face either England or Netherlands this weekend, with the other semi-final taking place in Dortmund on Wednesday evening.
