A story of shopkeeper and a widow neighbor

A man asked the shopkeeper – What is the price of bananas and apples? Bananas are Rs. 20 per dozen and apples are Rs. 100 per kilo. At the same time a poor woman came to the shop and said I want a kilo of apples and a dozen bananas – what is the price brother? Shopkeeper: Bananas are Rs. 5 per dozen and apples are Rs. 25 per kilo. The woman said give it to me quickly. The customer already present in the shop stared at the shopkeeper with devouring eyes. Before he could say anything – the shopkeeper gestured to the customer and asked him to wait for a while.

The woman happily left the shop after shopping and muttered – O God, I am thankful to you, my children will be very happy after eating the fruits. After the woman left, the shopkeeper looked at the customer already present and said: God is witness brother! I did not try to cheat you. This is a widow woman who is the mother of four orphan children. She is not ready to take any kind of help from anyone. I have tried many times and have failed every time. Then I have thought of this way that whenever she comes, I give her things by charging the lowest price. I want her to have the illusion and feel that she is not dependent on anyone. In this way I worship the servants of God.

The shopkeeper paused for a while and said: This woman comes once a week. God is my witness that the day she comes, my sales increase and God is kind to me on that day. The customer’s eyes filled with tears, he went forward and hugged the shopkeeper and went away happily after buying his goods without any complaint.
