A 72-year-old man, David Jackson, has been found guilty of defiling his neighbour’s 12-year-old daughter and has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
This is according to a statement on X.com by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency on Wednesday.
The statement noted that Jackson will be registered as a sexual offender in the Sexual Offenders Register as maintained by Lagos State.
The statement reads, “A Lagos State Sexual Offences & Domestic Violence Court sentenced 72-year-old David Jackson to life imprisonment for defiling his neighbour’s 12-year-old daughter.
“His name will be registered in the Sexual Offenders Register as maintained by Lagos State.”
Gistfox News reported that operatives of the Bayelsa State Police Command had arrested an 80-year-old man for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl at Otuokpoti community in Ogbia Local Government Area of the state.
Gender advocacy groups, including the Dise Ogbise Foundation, Reigneth Foundation, Starrz Safety Initiative, and Collins Cocodia Foundation, said the suspect had been identified by indigenes of the community as a serial paedophile.
The suspect was simply identified as Pa. Stephen, who was said to be suffering from advanced pile and hernia.
He has been taken to the Divisional Police Headquarters at Ogbia town on the insistence of the gender advocacy groups.
