Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, may declare his interest in the 2023 presidential race on Saturday, April 9, 2022.
It is reported that the minister may declare his presidential ambition at the thanksgiving ceremony of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Rivers State.
Amaechi, who is a former governor of the state is expected to grace the occasion with some governors of the APC, National Assembly members, and top Federal Government officials.
Chairman of APC in the state, Chief Emeka Beke, and the South-South Zonal Vice Chairman, Victor Giadom are said to have led some party leaders to inspect the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, the venue for the programme, Vanguard reports.
It would be recalled that in March, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State revealed that Amaechi is interested in the 2023 presidency.
“Rotimi Amaechi is interested in running for president. He has the right to do so but I’m not running for anything. I’m not going to be on his ticket.” the governor said.
It would also be recalled that a group, The Secretariat recently endorsed Amaechi to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
The group said Amaechi is recognized all over Nigeria, with friends and allies across the length and breadth of the country.
