“I have a strict policy of not giving my family members free money. Whenever I visit home for events like Thanksgiving, I’m often bombårded with requests for financial help from relatives. This constant solicitåtion frústrates me.

The conversations usually go like this: a cousin approaches me with an “investment opportunity” that requires a significant amount of money, promising unreålistic returns. For example, they might say, “Hey, I have a business idea that needs $4800, and I’ll pay you back with $2 million.” My response is always a firm “No, that’s not how it works.”

I have to explain to them that money doesn’t come easily and that they need to work for it. I also wårn them that their proposal sounds too good to be true. But they often get defénsive, saying I don’t believe in their dreams.

The truth is, if I give in to their requests, they’ll just come back asking for more a few months later. That’s why I’ve learned to say “No” and set boundaries. It’s essential to teach them the value of hard work and financial responsibility.”
