President Tinubu Mourns Senator Ayogu Eze

President Bola Tinubu extends his condolences to the Eze family over the passing of Senator Ayogu Eze.

The late politician represented Enugu North Senatorial Zone in the Senate from 2007 to 2015. During his time in the Senate, he held several positions, including Committee Chairman on Information and Media; Chairman of the Committee on Works, among others.

The President also condoles with the friends, associates, and former colleagues of the deceased, including the National Assembly as an institution.

The President prays to God Almighty to grant repose to the soul of the departed and comfort to those in mourning.

Senator Ayogu Eze, has reportedly died at the age of 66.

Born in 1958, the former senator who was in the senate between 2007 and 2015, was said to have died in a hospital in Abuja after a protracted illness.

Eze was a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but until his death, the former lawmaker was a member of the APC and one of the chieftains of the party in Enugu State.

Although the news of his demise is now public, his family or the party are yet to make an official statement concerning his death.

Before being elected into the Senate in 2007, Eze served the Chimaroke Nnamani-led Enugu State government as the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism.

He also served as a Special Adviser to Governor Nnamani on Public Affairs before becoming a federal lawmaker.

At the Senate, Eze was appointed chairman of the senate committee on Information and Media, making him the official spokesman of the senate.

During his eight-year stint at the Senate, he was a member of the Constitution Drafting and Amendment Committee that effected some changes to Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution.
