Obasanjo, Kukah, Amaechi, others for confab on civil war

Fifty-one years after the Nigerian civil war, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah and First Republic Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, among others are to share ideas at the second Never Again conference in Lagos.

In a statement, chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, Prof. Pat Utomi, listed other dignatories expected to deliver papers at the event as Alhaji Tanko Yakassai; erstwhile Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi; Publicity Secretary of Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Dr. Hakeem Baba Ahmed; Senator Shehu Sani; Lady Onyeka Onwenu; Ambassador Godknows Igali; Alhaji Ahmed Joda and Mrs. Charity Shekari.

According to the statement, the forum is being organised by an Igbo think tank, Nzuko Umunna, in partnership with Ovation International and Njenje Media.

Obasanjo is special guest of honour, while Pa Ayo Adebanjo and Dr. Kalu Idia Kalu, would chair the event, with Bishop Kukah delivering the keynote address.

Utomi explained that in keeping with the COVID-19 protocols, this year’s event would be held via zoom on January 14, 2021.
