Nigeria: A Nation Blessed but Bleeding!

Nigeria is undoubtedly one of the countries richly blessed by God with abundant natural resources. Unfortunately, our leaders have consistently lacked the vision, competence, and willpower to harness these resources for the benefit of the nation and its citizens.

It is disheartening that, in this day and age, Nigeria is still categorized as a third-world country. Nations like India, Singapore, and others that once shared similar challenges with us have long moved ahead, leaving us far behind. When I read about how their leaders transformed their countries for the betterment of their people, I can’t help but ask, why can’t we do the same here?

The phrase “E go better” has now become a daily anthem in Nigeria. It’s become so ingrained in our culture that even a newborn child will grow up chanting the same slogan alongside their parents and siblings. It’s a sad cycle of hopelessness and resignation.

A few days ago, a woman visited to inquire about a dehydrator machine for her mini-export business of dried herbs. She asked me about the price of the machine, and I told her. The shock and disappointment on her face when she heard the current price of the machine, she echoed that same “E go better” in my ears.

A machine that was affordable just a few months ago now costs three times the previous price, another harsh reminder of the unstable and worsening economy caused by poor leadership.

I stand firmly with Mr. Peter Obi’s aggressive stance on fighting corruption in Nigeria. I support the call for the introduction of the death penalty for corrupt leaders. China did it, and they are still doing it today. look at where they are now. It’s time we purge this system of the virus of corruption that is eating deep into our nation’s soul.
