Joshua vs Fury clash in doubt after arbitrator ordered Wilder trilogy fight

The heavyweight reunification fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua has reportedly been thrown in doubt after a judge ordered Fury to fight Deontay Wilder for a third time.

An arbitrator ruled in favor of Wilder, ordering a rematch with Fury by Sept. 15, according to The Athletics.

This comes one day after Fury said the final details were getting ironed out for him to fight Joshua on Aug. 14 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Wilder and Fury fought to a controversial split decision in December 2018, and Fury earned a seventh-round TKO in the rematch in February 2020, which Fury won with a seventh-round knock-out.

A third bout had long been delayed by Covid before Fury walked away from talks, necessitating the mediation hearing.

For the Joshua-Fury fight to go on, it is hoped that Wilder and his camp can be persuaded to step aside and this would attract a massive fee for Wilder.
