Euro2024. Denmark 1-1 England

In a lively and well-played match, England and Denmark drew 1-1 in a match referring to group C of the 2024 European Championship. Kane scored for the Three Lions, Hjulmand restored parity for the Danes.


England opened the scoring in the 18th minute following a mistake by Denmark’s Victor Kristiansen. The inevitable Harry Kane scored his first goal in the competition. Kyle Walker worked on the right and Harry Kane, at the first opportunity, opened the scoring with a left-footed shot from the heart of the area.

Denmark reacted well to the deficit and in the 34th minute Morten Hjulmand equalised. The Danish midfielder fired a right-footed shot from outside the box just outside the left post, with England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford having no chance of save. Great goal from Hjulmand.

The second half kept the momentum going and Declan Rice tried his luck with a long-range shot that fell into Kasper Schmeichel’s gloves. A minute later, it was Bukayo Saka who came close with a header that went wide of the right post. England threaten and Phil Foden hits the right post with a shot from outside the area.

Denmark responded immediately and Mikkel Damsgaard fired a powerful right-footed shot from outside the area, but the ball went out to Pickford, who collected it in two times. In the 73rd minute, another long-range shot from Danish midfielder Pierre Hojbjerg was saved by Pickford.

Referee Portuguese Artur Soares Dias blew the whistle for the end of the match, England and Denmark tied 1-1.

In the standings, England now have four points, against two from Slovenia and Denmark and one from Serbia, who today prevented the Slovenians from achieving their first ever victory in European Championships by sealing the 1-1 in the 90+5 minutes, through Luka Jovic.
