Ekiti election: APC jumps into early lead as results trickle in

 
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Ekiti governorship election, Biodun Oyebanji, has jumped into an early lead as results begin to trickle from the collation centre.

Ekiti went to polls today, June 18 2022, to elect a governor that will take over from the administration Governor of Kayode Fayemi.

The poll, which was contested in 16 local governments across the state, has the APC candidate as one of the favourites to win the race.

The two other leading candidates are a former Governor, Segun Oni and Bisi Kolawole of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) respectively.

Meanwhile, Oyebanji has so far won in nine out of the 10 local government announced with PDP candidate taking the remaining one local government.

The APC candidate polled a total of 111,728 votes across all the 10 LGs with Oni of the SDP trailing in second place with 45,175, while PDP’s Kolawole polled 40,594 votes so far.
