Davido breaks silence after losing Grammy to Tyla

Nigerian superstar singer, David Adeleke aka Davido, has congratulated his South African counterpart, Tyla on winning a Grammy for the maiden Best African Music Performance.

 

 

On Sunday night, Ayra Starr was announced as the winner of the category at the 66th Grammys, beating Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, and Olamide to take home the highly coveted gramophone.

However, reacting to the development, Davido, despite losing to the ‘Water’ crooner, congratulated Tyla on her victory through his official Twitter (X) handle.

 

He wrote; “Congratulations on your win @Tyllaaaaaaa ! Big One for Africa! Keep soaring!”.

Meanwhile, Ayra Starr also celebrated Tyla on her historic feat, writing; “Congratulations to my babessssss @Tyllaaaaaaa.”

Tyla and Ayra Starr have previously collaborated on her hit song, ‘Girl Next Door.’

Ayra Starr revealed days before the award ceremony that she had already prepared her Grammy acceptance speech.

Ayra Starr had expressed excitement for the 66th Grammy Awards, as she disclosed that she had carefully planned every part of her participation in the coveted event from her attire, walk, down to her acceptance speech.

When asked what she planned to do after winning the Grammy, Ayra Starr joked that she would go to her favorite Chinese restaurant and eat.

“I have my speech. I have everything done already. I already know my walk and my outfit,” the Mavin Princess said.

Ayra also said that if she didn’t win this year, she has already planned her outfit and acceptance speech for the 2025 edition and subsequent years.
