Amotekun arrest alleged rapist, herbalist in Osun

A 24-year-old suspected rapist was taken into custody by the Amotekun Corps, a security network of states in the South-West, on Friday in Iwo, Osun.

He was accused of having had carnal knowledge of the 16-year-old girl while keeping her in his room for three days.

The 28-year-old herbalist was detained by the security agency close to Iwo, according to retired Brig.-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, the corps commander in Osun.

The herbalist was discovered to be in possession of counterfeit $100 and N1,000 notes in addition to allegedly defrauding some people.

“The suspects were arrested at different locations in Iwo on Friday after reports were made to Amotekun about their nefarious activities.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crimes and were handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution,’’ Adewinmbi said.

The Amotekun commander urged Osun residents to always assist security agencies with information that could help to prevent crime and apprehend criminals.
