African leaders attend 2024 Obafemi Awolowo Leadership Award

African leaders gathered in Lagos on Wednesday for the 2024 Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Leadership Award.

  

 

The event held at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos was attended by former heads of state from both within and outside Nigeria, state governors, traditional rulers, and other notable Nigerians.

Amongst those present at the event are former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Kashim Shettima, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan (Chairman of the Occasion), President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde, and many others.

Amongst the serving governors in attendance were Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Alex Otti (Abia), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Usman Ododo (Kogi), and Mohammed Bago (Niger).

Former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, and the Chairman of Channels Media Group, Dr. John Momoh, were also among the distinguished guests at the event.

The award, according to the organizers’, is an initiative of the Obafemi Awolowo Foundation, set up in April 1992 to serve as the custodian of Chief Awolowo’s intellectual and leadership legacy.
